WBIR is a physical and expressive performance about the power of UNITY, heritage, identity, and transference. The performers of WBIR – Aitana Cordero and Daniel Almgren Recén – have been given total freedom by the initiator Tashi Iwaoka to develop the performance without his interference, but for two rules: 1. no one else is permitted to replace them as performers; 2. the adaptation is to be a collaborative process between the two performers.
WBIR originates from Iwaoka’s previous performance Bloody World Theory (2007) dealing with themes such as hope, responsibility, and absolute willpower. In WBIR Cordero and Almgren Recén take the whole initiative to make a new piece based on and utilizing anything from the first duet Bloody World Theory they together performed.
