”Tarkoitukseni oli tehdä sooloesitys Joutsenlammesta. Pian huomasin, että se tuntui jotenkin tunkkaiselta ja vanhanaikaiselta. Vaikka kuinka yritin, en pystynyt innostumaan tarinasta, jossa nuori mies täysi-ikäisyytensä kynnyksellä rakastuu joutseneen. Siitä huolimatta tunsin vetoa Joutsenlampeen. Oli kutkuttava haaste tehdä jotain intiimiä jostain niin suuresta.”
Esitystaiteilija Annika Tudeerin sooloesityksen kehyksenä on Joutsenlampi-baletti, jonka lisäksi teos sisältää omaelämäkerrallista materiaalia. Soolossaan Tudeer palaa opiskeluaikoihinsa 90-luvulle kirjallisuustieteen ja sukupuolentutkimuksen pariin sekä kokemuksiinsa tanssin analyysista ja kritiikistä.
Teoksen ensi-ilta oli Esitystaiteen keskuksessa Helsingissä helmikuussa 2015. Kutomolla teos nähdään osana 28.9.-4.10.2015 järjestettävän kansainvälisen performanssi- ja esitystaiteen tapahtuman New Performance Turku Festivalin ohjelmistoa.

New Performance Turku Festival: Annika Tudeer: Annika does Swanlake / Annika gör Svansjön
“My intention was to make a solo of Swanlake. Very soon I realised that the template felt both stuffy and dated. However much I tried, I could not be too enthusiastic about the story of a young man that falls in love with a swan on his coming to age birthday. Yet I was drawn to Swanlake. The challenge to make something intimate of something on that grand scale was of course titillating.”
Performance artist Annika Tudeer uses the ballet Swanlake as a framework for her solo performance Annika does Swanlake. Apart from Swanlake the solo consist of autobiographical strands. Tudeer returns to her life in literature and gender studies in the 1990’s, and to her experience of dance analysis and dance criticism.
The work premiered at Performance Center in Helsinki in February 2015. At Kutomo the work is shown as part of the international performance and live art event New Performance Turku Festival taking place in Turku from September 28th to October 4th 2015.
