Nykytanssia ja capoeiraa yhdistelevä teos THE TWO BODY tutkii resilienssin käsitettä liikkeen kautta. Esitys kysyy, kuinka voimme elää rinnakkain menettämättä identiteettiämme, kuinka voimme olla vapaita sitoutuessamme toisiin ihmisiin, kuinka voimme jakaa tilaa ja aikaa mielekkäällä tavalla?
Esiintyjät Inari Salmivaara ja Guaracy Paulino Da Conceiçao ovat olleet elämänkumppaneita 20 vuoden ajan. Maailman vastakkaisilta puolilta syntyneinä, he tapasivat Amsterdamissa 2000-luvun alussa. Keskinäinen vetovoima herätti pitkäaikaisen vuoropuhelun heidän erilaisten kulttuuristen ja sosiaalisten taustojensa välillä. Kaukana kotimaistaan he jakavat yhteisiä kiinnostuksen kohteita, puolustavat erilaisia liikkeitä ja juhlivat identtisiä syntymäpäiviään elokuun ensimmäisenä päivänä.

The performance THE TWO BODY explores the concept of resilience through movement and poses questions about how we can coexist without losing our identities, how we can be free when committed to others, and how we can share space and time in a meaningful way. The performance mixes contemporary dance and capoeira.
For 20 years, the performers Inari Salmivaara and Guaracy Paulino Da Conceiçao have been life partners. Coming from opposite sides of the world, they met in Amsterdam in early 2000. A mutual attraction sparked a long-lasting dialogue between their different cultural and social backgrounds, shared interests, diverse causes, and identical birthdays on the first day of August.

Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines fighting, dance, music, and oral history. Originating during the era of slavery in Brazil, enslaved Africans disguised their martial arts training as dance to secretly practice defensive skills and prepare for escape attempts. Over time, these clandestine training sessions evolved into the rich cultural tradition of Capoeira Angola.
A barycenter is a theoretical point, not a physical object, that represents the center of mass in a system with multiple bodies. This important concept is utilized in fields like astronomy and astrophysics to determine the orbits of celestial bodies. The distance between an object’s center of mass and the system’s barycenter can be calculated by modeling the system as a two-body problem.
Ehkä-production follows safer space guidelines. Unfortunately, the space at Contemporary Art Space Kutomo is not fully accessible; there are stairs and there are no accessible toilets at the venue.
