Työpari Pauli Patisen ja Camilla Rantasen sekä valo- ja videosuunnittelija Ville Tolvasen Low Resolution Reflections on esitystaideteos ja sen digitaalinen kaksonen. Teos luonnostelee näyttämölle online-webcam-chat -sivustoilla kasvaneiden tekijöidensä kuvia. Se on Narkissos-myytin rakeinen adaptaatio ja tutkielma sekä taiteen traditiossa että online-ympäristöissä toistuvasta itsen esittämisen halusta.
Low Resolution Reflections asettaa kyber-ruumiin näytteille liha-avaruuteen – ja toisinpäin. Se keimailee katsojalle näyttämöllä. Se keimailee tuntemattomalle internetissä.

Pauli Patinen (s.1993) on dramaturgi, ohjaaja ja esitystaiteilija. Taideyliopiston Teatterikorkeakoulun lisäksi Patinen on opiskellut Choreography and Performance -maisteriohjelmassa Saksan Gießenissä (Institute for Applied Theatre Studies) ja työskennellyt viimeksi muun muassa Tallinnan Kunstihoone-galleriassa sekä Teater Viiruksessa. Tällä hetkellä Patinen erityisen kiinnostunut menetelmälähtöisistä dramaturgioista, fiktion käsitteestä sekä tietoisen suhteen rakentamisesta taiteen traditioihin.
Camilla Rantanen (s.1994) on Taideyliopiston Teatterikorkeakoulusta valmistumistunut dramaturgi, näytelmäkirjailija, käsikirjoittaja ja esitysten tekijä. Hänen teoksiaan on ollut nähtävillä ja kuultavissa muun muassa myös Yleisradiolla, Kansallisteatterissa sekä Kiasmassa. Rantasen työskentelyä lävistävät arvot ovat suostumus, leikillisyys ja läpinäkyvä suhde niin työryhmään kuin myös yleisöön. camillarantanen.com
Ville Tolvanen (s.1990) on helsinkiläinen valo- ja videosuunnittelija, joka viimeistelee tällä hetkellä valosuunnittelun maisteriopintojaan Taideyliopiston Teatterikorkeakoulussa. Tolvanen on työskennellyt esittävien taiteiden lisäksi myös valotaiteen sekä liikkuvan kuvan parissa. Taiteen tekijänä häntä kiinnostaa tällä hetkellä sosiaalisesti ja ekologisesti kestävien työskentelymetodien kehittäminen – taiteellisessa työssään Tolvasta innoittaa mm. luonnon ajallisuudet, minimalismi sekä kineettiset ilmiöt mikro- ja makrotasolla.
Festivaalilla noudatetaan Ehkä-tuotannon turvallisemman tilan ohjeistusta. Valitettavasti Kutomon tilat eivät ole esteettömät. Rakennuksessa on portaita, eikä siellä ole esteetöntä wc-tilaa.
XS: Pauli Patinen and Camilla Rantanen: Low Resolution Reflections
Low Resolution Reflections is a collaborative work by the artist duo Pauli Patinen and Camilla Rantanen, along with lighting and video designer Ville Tolvanen. It is both a performance piece and its digital twin. The piece sketches portraits of the artists – who grew up on online webcam chat sites – onto the stage. It is a grainy adaptation of the Narcissus myth and a study of the recurring desire for the performance of the self in both the tradition of art and online environments.
Low Resolution Reflections exhibits the cyber-body in meatspace – and vice versa. It engages in a flirtation with the audience on stage and with strangers on the internet.

Pauli Patinen (b. 1993) is a dramaturg, director and performance maker. In addition to his studies at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts, Patinen also studied in the Master’s program in Choreography and Performance at the Institut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft in Giessen, Germany. He has recently worked at the Kunstihoone Gallery in Tallinn and Teater Viirus in Helsinki. Currently, Patinen is particularly interested in method-driven dramaturgies, the notion of fiction as well as consciously engaging with the traditions of art.
Camilla Rantanen (b.1994) is a dramaturg, playwright, screenwriter, and performance artist – a graduate of the University of the Arts Theatre Academy. Her works have been presented at The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), the Finnish National Theatre, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, among others. The values that permeate Rantanen’s work are consent, playfulness, and a transparent relationship towards both the working group and the audience. camillarantanen.com
Ville Tolvanen (b.1990) is a Helsinki-based light and video designer who is currently finishing his Master’s degree at the University of the Arts Theatre Academy. In addition to performing arts, Tolvanen has also worked with light art and film. As an artist, he is currently interested in developing socially and ecologically sustainable working methods. In his artistic work, Tolvanen is inspired by the temporalities of nature, minimalism, and kinetic phenomena on a micro and macro level.
The festival follows Ehkä-production’s safer space guidelines. Unfortunately, the Kutomo building is not fully accessible; there are stairs and there are no accessible toilets at the venue.
